Why our assumptions about success are often wrong?

Success begins with failure.

Getting succeeded at one throw is hardly possible, but 99% of times it begins with failure. That means we hardly belong to that 1%, Isn’t it? It is like a chain rule. Some people always claim that success comes only to rich people. These are the same people who claim that without credentials, connections, or whatever they happen to lack, success is impossible.

OUR WRONG ASSUMPTIONS

What we assume or what our actions are not always correct. Some of us do not even dare to correct it or take guidance. THIS is a fear of criticism. The truth is, most people put almost zero effort into figuring out how success works in their field, so you can outclass the majority, just by doing a little research.

When we look at successful people, it often feels that ‘they are lucky’! But we often forget to take care of their failures. We ignore their failures. At times we get jealous and at times we simply ignore. But what should not be ignored are their attempts!

We all know Justin Bieber. He was a drug addict and a man with depression. We only know his joy in his songs but unaware of his dark secrets. Neha Kakkar, a great Indian Singer, and Indian Idol judge. She belonged to a middle-class family and used to sing in public gatherings. She was also a contestant of Indian Idol show, but we only know her as a star. Though she is a great singer, she is also a great struggler.
Stories are infinite, but the factors are the same i.e. struggle.

DO YOU KNOW WHAT IT TAKES TO BE SUCCESSFUL?

We are often in the dilemma that, if we get a degree, we are successful. If this is the case, every student pursuing a degree would be the entrepreneur. How many of you think that a certificate of degree is a certificate of success?

What it takes to be successful, is its limbs or limits? What matters most, is it failures or luck? What determines you, is its education or ability?

WHAT DO YOU ACTUALLY NEED?

How are you to measure your level of ‘success’ if you don’t have a predetermined goal? This applies to your personal life, your professional life, and your general development as an individual.
Go ahead, set yourself some challenges; start with realistic challenges that you can achieve before moving to the more grueling ones. Having predetermined goals helps you with direction. Your goal could be exclusive employment training, an academic upgrade, or even working on your fitness or anything.

Is it only goals? You might think I am contradicting my point. But actually, it is! You might fail again for the goal you have set. Then what, should you again make a goal. Of course, yes. But this time, a different one. This time it is losing your defect.

WHAT TO DO?

Companionship and communication is a way around this problem. You can kill a lot of bad ideas, just by talking to people who have a better understanding of how the field works. They have experience and more knowledge that can help you and explain to you the reason for failure.

The steps are simple:

  1. Identify at least five people who are moderately successful in your field.
  2. Reach out to them and ask. BREAK the fear of criticism.
  3. Meet up with them and get them to share their thoughts.

A pro tip: (Don’t ask them how they succeeded. Ask them why they failed)

This doesn’t mean you should blindly follow their example, sometimes you may spot faster avenues that the majority of successful people missed. But at least understanding how success typically works gives you an enormous edge, even if you opt for more creative solutions.

THEN WHAT?

Make a plan accordingly. Work on it and challenge yourself to beat your old target. Be disciplined and determined. What if you fail again? Plan again and do not stop until you succeed.
Some of you might think, this is said by all.

Actually yes! But how many of us confidently follow it. If you didn’t go what you have gone through, you wouldn’t be the one you are today. You might have plans and goals. But, might be you are not aware of it or not working on it or thinking, your luck will work.
Luck will support you once but hard work will help you forever. Keep going and all the best.

If you are still confused and would like to learn fast and more effectively, there are online courses that can guide you accordingly. But it might be hard sometimes to decide which course to take and from which website, generally people postpone this decision and get stuck in the ‘I am just-thinking’ trap. You can visit Dashboard.myways.in, a platform developed in IIT Delhi which recommends the best courses available on multiple websites based on your interests, skill-level, and authenticity of courses.

And it’s free! So what are you waiting for? Start your Journey Today!
